my one year anniversary w/my jeep

Reprosted from 1-05, when I first got my JEEEEEEEEEEEP!

After being with my last car for a terrific 7 years, I felt like it was time to move on. Our parting convo went something like this...

"Look, Mark (yes, I named my car)...I still care about you a great deal & I hope you understand why I am trading you in. We've had a lot of fun together over the years & I will always have great memories of the many cross-country road trips, the winters in Michigan, the way you would start no matter how infrequently I changed your oil. I appreciate all that, I promise. But I feel like I need a new car. It's not you, it's me. I have grown up and no longer feel like an old Civic is really the right statement I want to make. I need something a little more rugged and fast. No, it has nothing to do with the fact that you are 9 years old & my new car is only 1. It has more to do with the fact that the Jeep can give me what I need right now. Please don't be mad, I hope we can still be friends. Maybe I can come by the dealership & say hi one of these days. I will always love you, Mark. I will always have a place for you in my heart."

And with that, I said "goodbye" to my car that took me through my early 20s and said "hello" to a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I slowly stroked the grey-green hood while eyeing the "special edition" emblem on the side. Mmm I am in love. And when I press the gas and speed past the other cars on the road while blasting my amped stereo with 10 disk changer I know he loves me back.
