motivation to start my biz again

Shitty job= NO JOB SECURITY!!!

As you may know, I am not the one to play into cliques, workplace drama or politics. Problem is- seems like you have to do that in many of the so-called shitty jobs which I have been occupying lately while I figure out what to do with my business. Unfortunatley, I am HORRIBLE at kissing ass/schmoozing/being catty/playing into petty people's ideal of high school reincarnated.

Hmmm...I am 28 years old- not 14 again, thanks. Seems many people cannot remember how old they actually are in REAL LIFE. Instead they float along in their quasi-popular phase of yesterday, shunning anyone who doesn't happen to be cookie-cuttered.

Case in point- my job at NoLa, which I did actually happen to like. Well, I liked the customers, they were fun. The employees on the other hand...well, it was basically a sad mix of kids who should have listened to their parents and stayed in college (or gone in the first place). Now they were all lost in the abyss that is food service/waitressing waiting for who knows what (their "big break", a sugar daddy, winning lottery ticket???). Odd thing is- when questioned, not one ever had a solid answer to the "what do you want to be when you grow up" topic.

No, I'm not just a catty chick (except I will say to Alici- you are a rude bitch!). I'm basically trying to make myself feel better at losing a shitty job that I was 10 yrs overqualified for anyway. I was embarrased to work there, and maybe they picked it up that feeling. I think I'm too old to play the "high school clique" game, which 90% of the staff did, as I was quickly warned about during my training by another girl who got canned.

Their reasoning..."Well, Jeff [the resident drunk guy in the bar] said you were rude, so we'll have to let you go." Translated: You don't play by the caste rules so you aren't allowed in our sandbox anymore.

Perhaps this was the kick in the ass I needed to get a "real" job. I have more interviews lined up this week than in the last month put together. Thanks NoLa! Oh ya, and I was a little bummed I had to work on X-mas eve AND New Year's Eve. Now I can party!
